Why use a studio

Over the last 4 years, I have had the priveledge of having a studio space available for me to work and play in. Not many Videographers get the chance to have an In-House studio, and I got that chance.

Having spent 4 years playing and tuning my skills, I have learned to love Studio Work. And there are various reasons for this.

Unlike shooting on location, or outdoors, you have a lot more CONTROL in a studio space.

You have control over the lighting, cutting off any exterior light that could affect your colour balance.

You have more control over the AUDIO in a studio space. Hopefully the studio has some sort of sound proofing, or dampeners on the walls to increase control.

You can also set up any scene before the shoot. Let's say you need to set up a rig in the studio the night before, it would be easy to lock up and pick the shoot up in the morning after rigging it up.

Another MASSIVE plus for the Studio scenario, is that you never have to deal with Bad weather. Unless you have a big hole in the roof, the studio will be safe from any weather related issues. Which can be a big issue if you are shooting outdoors on location. LIGHTING is also another point I want to mention again. Setting up a solid lighting set up, which doesn't change during the course of the shoot, helps the content stay constant, making the editor, and colourist's lives a LOT easier in Post Production. I am a big fan of using Studio for filming.
